In addition to determining the temperatures that have been measured, another equally important question concerns the locations where were SSTs measured (Dai et al., 2021). The video below explains a Bayesian model that my colleagues and I have developed to infer the positional errors of early ship tracks. We also explored the implications of these positional errors for SST reconstructions.
